One Night, Two Loses Poem by Ifeanyi Uduma

One Night, Two Loses

Three-Eight-Twenty five
A day marked in the stars, a stream of time
Cracks formed, foundations shaken deep
A spark in the heart, soul's desires awake
A moment's mistake, a lifetime's pain

'You're making it all about you'
Yes, it is all about me
I was never selfish enough
The universe whispered warnings, ignored
I thought I'd flow with it, but I was wrong
One night, a friend, a lover's touch

Wet bed, tears streaming down my face
The walls are down, the fence lies broken
Long night, dawn feels far away
Comforted by fireflies' gentle glow
For my heart is in pains
One night, two losses: heart and love
