Only One Night Poem by Alexander Foald

Only One Night

The sound of dripping water
In the back of the nightly room
Makes me know how lonesome it is
To sleep here with no one besides

I try not to think
And I find myself glaring at anything
I get myself a drink and back to bed
But it only makes me harder to give in

The moon looks the same as the night before
I count the stars and they just keep adding up
So far I never feel so bored and tired of my life
But this feeling counts me in as I’m walking out

And then there’s the sound of train passing by
Memories keep coming down and I can’t get by
Some lights clash before my eyes
Then all I see now is you, and I cry
