Only One Way

There’s nought of self that we can do
No knowledge we possess
No church on earth can make us new
How much we there confess

It matters not how sweet we speak
How long we fast and pray
No pious priest we come to seek
Nor words they have to say

It’s not from works we may have done
No sermons heard or preached
No great acclaim, no trophy won
Nor height on earth we’ve reached

It’s grace alone by which we’re saved
Through Christ upon the tree
To sin no more are we enslaved
Through Jesus’ blood we’re free

Within God’s Son we come alive!
To self, in Him we die
Without His substance none survive
However hard we try

Once saved! The lord we must obey
Repent from wayward sin
Seek truth and guidance every day
Through He who dwells within

We can’t grow cold once Light has dawned
Once Christ has sent His flame
The Spirit comes that we be warned
And guide from lives of shame

Let no one steal from you of The Light
Keep always Christ in view
Endure until you’ve won the fight
Once Jesus’ makes you new…
