Open Eyes Blind Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Open Eyes Blind

Open Eyes Blind

Everyone knows a clean break is best
So I’ll render your edges smooth
And turn around
Twist off a clean glass
And rinse this hate down with some harsh boose
Hopefully, the regret gets stuck in between the bottle and lips
And on the darkest nights
It will sleep beneath my skin

We’re all chained to regret
Fools lie because jumping time is not possible
We turn to 270’s to trap the problem
Some only taste the rust
And as for the rest of us
our body collapses under a red cloud of dust

It takes exactly ten million pounds of fear
To pull that little metal switch
Our pain jumps out and unleashes its wrath ten fold on loved ones
We lay still with open eyes blind
And a lonely twitch
