Oriental Love Poem by Farnood Jahangiri

Oriental Love

Flow like the Nile
Over
My barren body
Cover it all
With your
Waving whipping wings
Leave the muddy woods
In their resentment:
“What a jungle he is
Green
Pure
Clean;
How steams of virtue
Rise from his lute’s strings.”
***
Be like Tigris for me
And Euphrates
Combined
Remembrance of a genuine
Graceful ancient love
Blessed by random deities
Than curse of one Despot
Ritualized by angels
On surface and
Above.
***
You are like the Indus
From the peaks descent
From among clouds
Of pristine crystal
From richest ravines
Of gorgeous maturity
You are my only hope,
My life reservoir
The shining luxury
Upon my lunacy
You’re my unfading sign
To trace our legacy.
