Our Choice Poem by David Gruehn

Our Choice

Rating: 5.0

What blessed curse this thing called choice,
God gave us reason and a voice.
'Tis ours to ponder how we use,
to find our peace or to abuse.

Life's puzzle is to find what's real,
how to decipher what we feel.
Sin's a path that we all know,
desire compels us all to go.

Our world seduces us each day,
illusions sent to skew our way.
I bought it all, at painful cost,
but thanks to God my soul's not lost.

The choice is yours, and you must choose,
to live for Christ, or live for you.
The narrow path - eternal life!
The beaten path is full of strife.

Today I chose to just let go,
I leapt into God's blissful flow.
My purpose is to live His way,
And share this gift with you today.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I reached a point in my life where I had achieved everything I was told would make me happy, and yet I was the most miserable I'd ever been.I'd become "successful" according to the world around me. At one point I was ready to quit this mad race, but already knew my life was not mine to take.So I started screaming at God to either take me or save me from this hell. Be careful what you ask God. I fell to my knees and this poem began filling my head.I literally just wrote it down. God was showing me that I was at a crossroad, and I needed to make a choice.God was saving me... from myself...
