Our Nation's Rage Poem by Raymond Cabrera

Our Nation's Rage

We always fear the tempest of sad moments,
Those deaths that let our soul be on laments,
Trials, reasons bewildered; we must rage against.

Blight of storms, floods, inevitable earthquakes,
Pierce in our deepest crannies; our lives at stakes,
Sadness in unveiled nooks, we must rage for our sakes.

Misfortunes, Hopeless, eyes full of faint tears,
Sapless desires by means of man’s perennial fears,
With their frightful smiles seems to rage through the years.

Rage against the promises, wiles of politics,
Cunning looks; no conscience nor plans to fix
The chaos within our nation occupied by tricks.

Struggle from sorrows; they shall repent their sins,
The rape victims, slaughtered by way of lustful grins
Restore the broken dreams of our dear Philippines.

Hold on to our Korans, Rosaries, devoted faiths
The Christian’s cross or the Star-crescent moon waits,
For a true devotee; belief wanders like wraiths.

Arise from the streams of famine, for hope there is,
Fierce wind that blows with hunger, cheerfully peace,
Rage from poverty with our knees before we cease.

Go forth towards light of hopes, till we reach the stage,
Face disasters with strength; cry out from our cage
The disarrays, go ease with it of our temper’s gauge
Together, you and me, let’s fight for our nation’s rage.
