Over It Poem by Robert Eckstein

Over It

A friend said, 'I'd like to talk a bit.
Today, I'm really out of it.'
I said, 'There's no need to be glum,
I'll rush right out and get you some.'
'Sometimes you seem a little dense.
What you just said just makes no sense.'
He turned to me a half-sad smile.
'I know you'd go the extra mile,
But I really need a word of cheer.'
'OK'' I said, 'Let's have a beer! '
We sat and had a beer or two
And soon, he didn't feel so blue.
We chatted then of this and that
And sat and sipped, and sipped and sat.
But alas I slipped from bad to worst
And said, 'Just tell me who's on first? '
