Over You Poem by Maya Reid

Over You

You’re a blip in my past
A shapeless soul who remains masked

Confining me to a cramped shell
Who I really am I’m afraid to tell

You built me up inside
Then ran into the shadows to hide

You’ve inflicted me with poison
But I’ve got others to give me medicine

You knocked me down
Turned my smile into a frown

But I don’t need you to ruin my life
His warm hug heals cuts from your cold knife

I don’t need your pity
I don’t want your sympathy

Now you’re tryin to show me kindness
But you’re not the one I’m gonna miss

So now I say goodbye to you
I’m no longer a victim of all those things you do

Don’t know who you will hurt next
But it won’t be me, cuz I’m surely vexed

Life is so much easier now
I’m smiling cuz he’s taught me how

I’m over you, but don’t take it too hard on yourself
You’re just a book of shadows put back on my shelf.
