Panic Attack Poem by Chris Wiggins

Panic Attack

Rating: 5.0

You fall, as silent as snow, into a hole
of unwanted thoughts and panic.
To slow a fast beating heart while still
In fight, is as impossible as it is to pull
The plug on gravity itself. Pouring your
breathe into a brown paper bag. Counting your heart beat like tumbling dice. Time held hostage on the wall.
An anxious sky surrounds you.
Beads of sweat jump ship from sinking wreck, oh shit..... is this it?

Suddenly, calmly - a break in the clouds. Shadow's shift easy across the pavement. Clearing way for some much needed light.
The air, like nectar from the gods, fills your lungs with certainty and reassurance.Life's marching band pick up sticks and once again begin to play. You gather yourself as you walk along the street to the sound of that old familiar beat. The words resonate inside you soul, nodding as you
go. Mouthing the words.....
'Because its a bitter sweet symphony, that's life'.......
