Paper And Pencil - Poem by Jared Bradford

I can't always explain my pain internally
But give me a pen and surely
I can elaborate
Just collaborate with paper
Throw some sand on it, smooth myself out
Then made it rain on my parade
Cause I was sick of this drought
So course, so dry, so numb
Life wanted to start a war
So I pulled out my thumb
And laughed, grinned
After that, I trashed a few lyrics
Told myself that stuff ain't me, don't be satiric
I know my con's
And I smile every time you try to use them to bring me down
