Again, your face returns to haunt my sight,
Along the path of memory falls the shade.
Within this empty heart, I lost the light,
And reach for hands that out of reach have strayed.
I open wide the door, but you are gone,
The garden of my dreams is turned to stone.
A sighing wind laments until the dawn,
And strikes me like a bolt, so left alone.
Upon my faded eyes your pictures stay,
I hear the phantom music of your voice.
A grieving poet, writing night and day,
While you are far away, by fate or choice.
My falling tears weep for a love undone,
Will you return to bring that golden sun?
