Patriotic Enough Poem by sydney conteh

Patriotic Enough

Am not patriotic enough
Are my scars not deep enough
Are my calluses not hard enough
Are my nightmares of guns and bloodshed
Not scary enough
Is my psyche not broken enough
Is my cries for the friends I have lost
Not sacrificial enough
To be deemed sincere enough
To count as patriotic

Funny you have none of these
Yet you call yourself patriotic
