People Of The Dawnland Poem by VICTORIA HEIM

People Of The Dawnland

People of the Dawnland

Each new day
The Sun throws
Its first rays
Upon the
People of the Dawnland
Before continuning
The jouurney west
Look to Mount Katahdin
The highest point
In the state of Maine
For spiritual strength
It is there that Pomola,
A great birdlike creature
Is found
The gruardian spirit
Will aid with special powers
The Wapanahki
The People of the Dawnland
Refused to vanish
Survive in a changing world
With spiritual understanding
And reverence
