People Pleaser Poem by Nellie Kate

People Pleaser

You look at me and see a smile
Trying to make your time worthwhile
Trying to make you see I'm fine
But on my arm leaves a thin line

A mark that tells me I'm enough
Something to make me feel tough.
I fake a laugh to hide it all
But I'm really just waiting for that call

I can't make flowers bloom
I spend most of my time locked in my room
I don't know what to say
Afraid I'll scare you away

Who I am is just like you
I can bleed and cry to
I am who I am for a reason
Suffering from the consequences of treason

One day you'll see me different
Knowing I was nothing but ignorant
Who I am was once enough
Who you were once fell for my bluff

A people pleaser just like me
Wishes for nothing but to be free
My smile will soon fall
And soon you will see it all

Please don't think of me weird
You being worried is what I feared
Soon you'll know why
I always chose to lie.

A people pleaser for you and them
A fake smile a broken gem
A closed heart glued shut
Down my legs buried a deep cut
