Phantom Bird Poem by Phil de Lange

Phantom Bird

I see the flash of pain
tear through your dark divine
Blackened eyes gleam
in a fit of panic

Frozen cries speak the tongue
of forgotten dead...
past love
past hate.

You appeared,
as if from the depths of despair,
to curse the life I breathe.

You drift
in the limbo sky of my thoughts;
a midnight harlequin
striking a taste of fear.

Phantom Bird
death incarnate
death present,
float by
away from this realm!

Leave only your memories,
for I live with them-
side by side,
the cosmic faith in my hands.
