Piano Poem by Amna Haleem

Piano

Fingers flying across the keys
Music flowing in my ear
Speaking through the melody
As each note enters the air
It is swept away by the wind
Carried to each ear that passes by
The final note hangs heavily in the air
And pianist stands
And solemnly bows to his audience
The curtains draw to cheers and tears
As a little girl in the crowd
Stares intently at the front
Her mind filling up with dreams
As the notes of the song runs through her mind
She stands
And her hands come together to clap
To the music that moved her heart
