Picnic Mat Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Picnic Mat

Don't be scared of the dark
Be scared of the trap
That the Sun has in store
Better days are farther
Than you think they are
Tomorrow, be prepared
For tired eyes and
Shaking hands
Let's sleep beneath
The cruel wonders
Of every thought
And broken whisper
Before it keeps us up
All day, and all night
Until we're robbed off
Of our ability to shiver
