Planet Black Poem by Vanessa Kaylee

Planet Black

The world is black, not like an unending night, but like an overwhelming darkness surrounding the planet. There is a speck of life in the darkness, it shines like the brightest light. Travel would take three days, to get there, not by plane, not my train, nor truck or car, walking is thee only way. The path is rocky, with danger at every bend. Walking fast will make the path move in and out. Shaking the rope bridge will force a brutal fall, to cascading river's below. The valley is deep, wild with savage animals running a muck in the dark.Looking about the scenery, seeing black all surrounding nothing but darkness, though visions of light dance around, dying monstrous beings haunt the silence of this world, breaking loneliness, making weariness. There is no single sanctuary for those helpless creatures that thrive in this utter darkness. The screaming presents itself when another one is murdered by a foe, this planet will be lit one day, by a fire spreading across the tree tops burning everything in its path, taking living beings out of existence. This is my world. My home.
