Pleasure And Pain Poem by Ali Rahimi

Pleasure And Pain

You want to kill your pain?
You want to attain everlasting pleasure?
Our memories shape our tastes and decisions,
Nature has controlled us by two strong kings,
Pleasure and pain, we are slaves to them,
Memories of harsh events, of failed loves,
Broken families, shameful failures,
Of scandals, horrible disgraces, toxic rumors, slanders,
Inglorious crimes, deplorable mistakes,
Scars, wounds, wasted blood,
Uncared-for lips, unwanted flesh, unwelcomed veins, OR
Joyful hedonistic fun,
Scent of hypnotizing bodies,
Hot kisses, and explosive orgasms,
Victories, achievements, trophies, and adorations,
Limelight, fame, admiration and decorations,
But,
Can we trust our memories? Do they manifest our true experiences?
Are they true reflections of our feelings?
We feel like losers, or winners,
Our mind is obsessed with Loss and Gain
Brain is a bank accountant,
Mental account of perpetual calculations,
Cost and Benefit computations,
Sweatshop of loss and gain antagonism,
Playground of joy and guilt mechanism,
Battlefield of soldiers of happiness and regret,
And _our memories are the commanders,
Sometimes defenseless, weaponless, or simply helpless,
Like useless worms circling around manure,
Pleasure and Pain,
Pleasure and Pain,
Pleasure and Pain,
I like time neglect, pain neglect, pleasure neglect,
Perception neglect, obsession neglect, human neglect,
Total trance, complete euphoria, utter Nirvana,
Subliminal senselessness of superior spontaneous sleep,
Deep, deep, deep, as deep as the ocean,
Like a homeless, a gypsy, a vagabonds' loyalty,
Undisguised, unselfconscious, unclothed, uncovered,
Dead to the world, and swimming in the selfhood of a savior,
Shameless nudity, fluid formless,
I want to be shapeless, nameless, even skinless,
Natural as a genuine refugee's smile at a helping face,
Artless looks, guileless words, sad as her tears,
Light is her future, pleasure her spirit,
Yes, better freeze than on your knees,
Better run than gone, better mount than count,
Better learn than yearn, better risk than miss,
Better discover than cover, better cope than under rope, better red than dead!
Welcome to the realm of light and pleasure!
