Poem 36, If...
~
I’ve done a lot of thinking
And I hope I understand
The confusion.
The fear.
The boredom.
Should you decide that you are tired
Of this aging, mortal coil
Your life is yours to do what you wish.

If it comes to be
That you’ve come to a decision
On what you wish to do
After thinking.
And considering
What heart-shattering impact
This will have
On everyone that knows you.

If it is that you decide
To leave this plane and die
I will sit and bow my head.
Then sigh, and begin to cry.
Should you release your soul
You will not go alone.
For part of me will go with you
When your soul decides to roam…
