Policy Of Strength Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Policy Of Strength

Why must you park so far away
Knowing clearly where I stand
You’ve traveled extensively just to see me
Now you’re scared to hold my hand
You sounded so excited
As we reasoned on the phone
Suggesting themes for us to realize
When we covertly meet alone
The time has come upon us
You long to hold me near
Puzzled by your caution
I pause to calm your fears
Why must you flow so far away
Clearly fronting, from where I stand
You travel very far to see me
Now you pause to take my hand
You acted so excited
As you pleaded on the phone
You had the time and place all outlined
To discreetly meet alone
The time has come upon us
I pretend that you’re not here
Puzzled by my wavering
Your charade has disappeared
Your games are truly tempting
To an adolescent mind
But at my current station
I just don’t have the time
Am I am hear to entertain you
To smile at your façade
Or do we act mature, like grown-ups
Who’ve grown wiser with time and age
The time has come upon us
Reach out and take my hand
Advance without precaution
Cleverly sensing where I stand
