Political Elites Poem by MAHAMMA ADRIANNE

Political Elites

As thou won the elections’
Thou will begin to sew large pockets;
Where thou canst hide dollars.
Thou used to work for Nairas;
Count thou now in dollars.
Thou weighed in Kgs;
Weigh thou now in pounds.
Thou plumped like the elephants;
Looking like the heavy weight champions.
Thou used to sleep in poultries;
Thou live now in studios.
Forget thou did the masses.
Voted thou the masses.
Ought thou to provide for the masses,
Lest thou will lose elections
And return to thine masses.
When the tyre punctures
The pressure deflates
And thou begin slim like bananas
Life is like blinking of eyes
And loot easily wastes
Thou must heed my warnings.
