Politics Poem by Caitlin Daniela Pariño

Politics

Politics, a venomous brew,
Brimming with envy, fear, and spite,
Born of want and petty grudges,
Expanding relentlessly, day and night.
It claims impartiality's grace,
Yet stifles debates with might,
A tantrum-throwing child's embrace,
Insisting on having its way in the fight.

Everyone wields their hidden blade,
Declaring others to be the snare,
Crafting arguments, a mind game played,
Slowly brainwashing with utmost care.
Children, teachers, nurses, the left,
All cry, 'It's not fair! ' in despair,
Claiming impartiality, they're bereft,
Lost in a sea of naive air.

In sports, entertainment, in all,
Politics rears its head, the tragic show,
Ammo for willing, unseeing thrall,
Bosses and workers dance to and fro.
No escape, it's everywhere,
In everything you observe and know,
From comedians to singers who dare,
No one seems to have a choice to bestow.

It seeps into every nook and cranny,
Politics can't set you free or take a pause,
A constant presence, leaving you uncanny,
The one who shouts loudest and without a cause.
