Promises Poem by chidiebere franklin

Promises

You promised to be there for me,
You lied, but I forgave you.
You promised to never hurt me mentally,
You lied, but I forgave you.
You promised to never hurt me physically,
You lied, but I forgave you.
You promised to never hit me again after you did the first time,
You lied, but I forgave you.
You promised to always meet my needs,
You lied, but I forgave you.
You promised to never break a promise,
You lied, but I forgave you.
I promised to always be there for you,
I lied, but you forgave me.
I promised to always be good,
I lied, but you forgave me.
I promised to never leave you,
I lied, but you forgave me.
I promised to always help you when you needed me to,
I lied, but you forgave me.
I promised to always listen to you,
I lied, but you forgave me.
I promised to always be daddy's little girl,
I'm not sure I broke that promise.
Sometimes I really wonder,
If God planned it to work this way.
Just because I'm gone doesn't mean I'm not daddy's little girl,
But promises are broken, lies are made.
We're only human, but we forgive each other,
Although lies hurt and break hearts that time sometimes just can't fix,
But life goes on, we learn from mistakes and broken hearts.
We try not to hurt each other, but it doesn't always work,
So this is my promise to you now,
I will always love you,
I promise
