Protestantisk Vaar - Poem by Sophus Niels Christen Claussen

Jeg levede en Gang i en evig Palmesøndag
med en stedsegrøn Palme plantet i mit Hjærte.
Derfor røres jeg denne blæstkolde Dag i Siena
af Kirketjenesten og Vievandet,
af de støvetgrønne Kviste
og de sirlig klædte Seneserinder.

Det martskolde, tørre Siena
paa Palmesøndagen,
en Haandfuld klingende Kirker
til Guds Ære,
og Sollyset, den barske Blæst
... det bringer mig min Ungdoms
Palmesøndage tilbage:
ud over Bakkerne i Jylland
havde efter de strenge Vintre
Kornet netop begyndt at grønnes.

Og mit protestantiske Hjærte grønnedes for første Gang.
