Psalm 54 Poem by Frank McEleny

Psalm 54

Hear my prayers o my God
And listen to the words of my mouth
I am surrounded by enemies
From the East, the west, the north and the south

The Lord delivers me from all my troubles
I will praise you for it is good
Even if I wander, starving in the desert
Your very presence shall be my food

In the midst of trials and afflictions
You are water to my thirsty soul
You are my light in the darkness, my fire by night
Your blessings have made me whole

Blessings of mercy and justice
Of love and forgiveness and peace
Strength to the weary, hope to the hopeless
Your mercies they never cease
