Questions Of A Father

Oh my child there you lay,
In my arms so newly born.
What are these feelings I feel,
What's this fear so new to form.
Am I ready to do this,
Am I ready to teach.
Why do my hands start to shaking,
Why is my breath hard to reach.
Will my father say he's proud,
Will he hold me like I do you.
What do I do with all these question,
What with everything so new.
Why do you look at me now,
Why are your eyes so blue and light.
When will this fear disappear inside me,
When will all things feel right.
I know one day I'll love you,
I know my father taught me so.
How will you love me child,
How do I really know.
Will you let me try my child,
Will you let me grow with you.
What will we learn together my child,
With all these things so new.
