Quick Food Poem by Mike Berriman

Quick Food

How sad is our food now so fast
So many dishes the range so vast
our food is prepared, so we just heat
Instant meals, pre masticated meat.

Our oats so quick with no delay
One minute to slurp and on our way
The coffee is instant, a habit for many
Then off to the loo to spend that penny.

Potatoes are instant and thoroughly mashed
The schnitzel crumbed and diligently bashed
We add cold water to gravy and soup
We call ourselves creative, how low can we stoop?

Packets of noodles and stews in a can
Pre cooked meals, hundreds known to man
Countless foods fresh from the tin
This is our diet, an edible sin.

Instant noodles, rice, and meals on a tray
Food convenience, or so you might say
Here is instant curry and diet ice creams
We are growing in girth, food not what it seems.

Our packaged foods are colored and salted too much
Processed with chemicals, additives and such
Much better to prepare our food from the start
Better for families, our health and our heart.
