Quietude Poem by O Sudhir Janardhanan

Quietude

How does black begin?
Is it the same as,
How does void begin?
Does it start with
Darkness as it seeps in
Through corners of light
Covering up onto
Pulling things itself into.

Dense, obscure
Then an ache
That refuses to leave,
A reminiscent take
When words shared wait
For the close of days.

There is not much
Chatter, actually we seek
To avoid it as such.
In years of this,
The most that I
Answer is a, ‘hmmm'.
The rest from you,
A silence that works.
