Rainy Day Poem by Assayouti Jalaludeen Shuaib

Rainy Day

Rating: 3.5

Many years gone by in strain
Quivered by the tremor of trail
Whirlwind nearly capsized my sail
But, still I did not derail
To salvage my darling sail,
In my quest to attain
Where my fate will reign
I caught myself chasing my tail
I got my heart cuffed in the rail.

And all I hope to gain
Is love devoid of pain,
You hypnotized my heart with rein
No more I felt an ounce of pain
No more I beamed and grinned in pain,
My dolefulness went down the drain.

You pledged not to contravene
My love, even it goes beyond the pale,
How soon it is… you changed your way?
To awake my pain again,
I never wished to crane
My neck for love again,
All you said had gone away?
All we do will fade away?
You let my desires out of your way;
To walk you down the lane
And narrate a fairy tale…

Never in my thought and lain
You could call it a day,
I would have saved my hay
For this rainy day.
