Rebel Cochlea Poem by Jesse Swedlund

Rebel Cochlea

The silence of the room
Is apparent.
I listen deeper.
Fingers give birth to soft clicks.
The lungs’ gestation period ends with a cough.
A whisper passes through
Her soft lips.
My heart beats
A melody of immortality.
