Red Apples. Poem by Elle McKay

Red Apples.

four
apples
and a chair
but the chair didn't speak
the apples were red
and the chair stood up
with its
back
so straight
aligned and proud
and the apples sat,
silently
watching, never
cloaking their obvious
embarrasment.
