Red Steel Poem by Gary Vanderbur

Red Steel

See how the edge gleams in the light?
(I tell ya, there's nuthin' like a good piece of Gillette steel.)
It feels so good in my hand
(And right now, it's all you need...)
But I don't want to use it!
(You know you need it.)
But I'm scared!
(Think of the rush it gives ya!)
I just don't know what else to do.
(You need a release - you've EARNED it!)
Well, maybe just a little.
(Now you're talkin'.)
I gotta be careful...
(Ah, don't be such a wimp. Go for it!)
Oh, that feels so much better. Maybe a little more...
(Just let your fingers slice and dice.)
I love to see the bright red glimmering on the blade.
(See? Don'tcha feel good now?)
Mmmm... All those cares are just flowing down my arm.
(Why don'tcha go deeper and release it all?)
I don't know if I can...
(Sure you can. Just press a little harder. You'll see how good it feels.)
Yeah. I know you're right. Aw, what the hell! Why not!
(Now, THAT's what I'm talkin' about!)
Ah, that feels great. Just a little more.
(Why stop now? You're on a roll!)
I... I'm feeling kinda woozy?
(Nah, that's nothing. You're just getting all the bad out.)
Bu... but, I can't see right. I gotta sit down.
(Go ahead and sit. Ya don't wanta fall down, now do ya?)
Oh, God. It's squirting out. How do I stop it? ! ? !
(That's just it, kiddo. Ya don't! Not any more...)
Wha... what am i gon... gonna... do?
(Just sit back and enjoy the time ya got left. hee-hee...)
i... i don't wan... wanta di...........
(Too late for that. You're all mine now...)

(Go deep, cut strong.
Wow! Look at it bleed!
I've sung my last song,
I'm finally freed.

Ashes to ashes,
Blood to rust.
Another one slashes
And bites the dust!

hee, hee... NEXT!)
