Remember Poem by Wendy Moravec

Remember

Will you remember me?

Or will I be forgotten?

Will my memory live on?

Or will I disappear?

Do people think of me,

Now that I am gone?

Or am I just a nothing,

As the people move on?

Will they remember me as special?

A quiet and delightful soul?

Or will they turn and carry on,

As if I’d never lived at all?

Do you think on my birthday,

They’ll say a prayer for me?

Or will they just party on,

Because it’s a holiday?

Will they think of me on Christmas,

The day the Lord was born?

Or will they have forgotten,

That I’D ever been born at all?

Will they wish I were there,

On all their special days?

Or am I the last thing,

They’d ever let dwell in their minds?

When they grow tired and start to die,

Will they smile in delight at the sight of me?

Or am I so old and so long forgotten,

They’d do anything to leave me and continue to live?

Will you remember me?

Or will I disappear?
