Remireke(To My Father's Masquerade) Poem by Ayodele Akinmeji

Remireke(To My Father's Masquerade)

My Father's befitting masquerade
The masked spirit of the waterful world
Folk of the legendary Ìjòfì
Descent of the mythological Ìlá

You made the careful wife burn her broth
And incur the wrath of her husband
No thanks to your attractive appearance
And your spectacular dance steps

Thegreat demon that punishes the evil
The tender spirit that uphold the just
And bestow upon the barren womb's fruit

What a flawless beauty you are!
In your role model family you came
from the seas beneath and bless us

Indeed you are of the sea!
