Right Where We Stand Poem by Little Eagle McGowan

Right Where We Stand

They came here for freedom
A better life with something to show
Vast horizons to lead 'em
Forever stretched far as you'd go…
'Twas a bright shinin' diamond
To turn into the best thing you knowed…
For no good rhyme or reason
Just wander jes' where the wind blowed...

Chorus:
What you see's what you get hoss
We're right here
Right where we stand.
We've seen the best and the dross
If you draw near, better act like a man
We've survived what we've lost…
Not with fear
But love for the land…
What you see's what you get hoss
We're right here
Right where we stand.

So the good and the bad came
The humble the proud with their brood
They called us the wrong name
And stole all our land and our food
And being our guests kinda changed
They killed the host sayin'
"You're screwed"
They gave us all the blame
Canonizing themselves in the new…
