Roses And Thorns Poem by Seraphine Belle

Roses And Thorns

Something touched me
Uncertain hands of
Fate?
Perhaps Lucifer incarnated?
It shimmers beyond Reason
Something undefined

Something touched me
My heart strings are tugged
Haunting melodies of Vivaldi
or the Ballet symphony of Schumann [Petrouchka]
The chords are played
Would the Will
Succumb to the tune?

Something touched me
The odd shade of red
In the sea of yellow
The painter's alternating direction
With every stroke
Hesitant in his moves
of shading the white canvas
Yet it is how he earns his
Daily bread

Consider the five senses,
pleasure and pain,
for they allow us
to revel in beauty
and balance guilt.
