Running along the river
that runs through our town,
mundane thoughts running through my mind,
I ran into an old friend
who runs a sports club,
looking a bit run down.
He had a running sore
where his heart used to be
because the love of his life,
who ran circles round him,
ran up huge debts
and generally ran him ragged,
had run off with a Bow Street Runner
after they had a bit of a run in.
He thought she was just running an errand
but turns out they were running away together
to Runnymede.
I let him run on a bit
running through his woes
then ran off regretfully
with this silly song running through my brain
'Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run.'
