Rusted Tin Woman Poem by Donna Leftwich

Rusted Tin Woman

I wear my suit of armor
protective and strong
But the tears I cry and hold inside
keep me from moving on

The rust appears and stops my joints
I find my strength is gone
New cracks arise in my restrictive case
and light shines on the inside

My fears so long kept in the dark
have no where left to hide
But there's a warmth that comes from this light I feel
It's time to shed this suit and just be real
