Rustling Poem by Mary Champion

Rustling

Autumn leaves
and cattle thieves
have all been known to rustle,
and when wind blows
where tall grass grows,
you'll hear it as they jostle.
Silken gowns
emit such sounds
that sometimes lead to trouble,
when they betray
what's underway
amidst erotic scuffle.
Crisp bank notes
and rainproof coats
are guilty of some rustling;
newspapers too
when clean and new
will do it without struggling.
The legal files
that come in piles,
their contents often puzzling
will crepitate,
a sound innate
to documents when shuffling.
Mum rustles up
some tasty grub
for hungry kids who're grumbling.
And that's your lot,
it's all of got
of things involved in rustling.
