Rustling Rudiments Poem by Shiraz Bautista

Rustling Rudiments

Cacophonous clatter cuts clicks pricks
the rustic rim of my auricular snare
playfully paradiddling my prefrontal cortex
into a state of fight or flight
during the wee hours of the night

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem embodies the essence of a poetic form I've coined as 'Eigotanka.' It blends the elegance of the English language with the Japanese tradition. The term 'Eigo, ' meaning 'English' in Japanese, signifies the cross-cultural nature of this new poetic form. While adhering to the 5-7-5-7-7 structure, Eigotanka deviates from syllables and emphasizes word count instead
