Safety Before Triumph Poem by Joseph M Donatelli

Safety Before Triumph

Where are we going with all of this
Exploration is to be roundly dismissed
Forget the concept of opportunity for all
So that each can have freedom to fall
Why has it become necessary to call
Every person to be identicaly small
Babes contributing nothing new at all
So everyone goes safely as they crawl

No think no look no touch
Take no chance no grow up
No experience no screw up
No learn no change no muck
Stay safely in known ruts
Never venture forward up
Keep to the past stay stuck
It's for the best of luck

A perfect child of eighty never struck
A streek of failures on the hard way up
Rather obeyed the rules of follow rust
Never chancing to gain or go bust
Every day was exactly the same I trust
No veriation or experimentation thrust
Cost the child of eighty a nervous breath
He died perfect never making a misstep
