Saffron Duet Poem by Mary Champion

Saffron Duet

Back in time when rocking music first began
There was a woman on the road with her new man,
Together making music like the Heavens' spheres,
Then they split up and left the world with empty ears.

They are the stars, they sing the song
That sounds so right and lasts so long,
From where the sun don't ever set,
Saffron Duet!
From that first glimpse of paradise
To where the heart of Heaven lies,
They're number one, don't you forget
Saffron Duet!

Since that day we searched through all the charts to find
An artist who could paint a picture for the blind.
But no one ever hit that magic, golden peak.
Despite it all, Saffron Duet is still unique.

They are the stars, they sing the song
That sounds so right and lasts so long,
From where the sun don't ever set,
Saffron Duet!
From that first glimpse of paradise
To where the heart of Heaven lies,
They're number one, don't you forget
Saffron Duet!

Now they've started rumours in the underground,
The world is due to wake up to that soulful sound.
They're getting back together, now the stage is set.
Lay back and let it rip, c'mon Saffron Duet.

They are the stars, they sing the song
That sounds so right and lasts so long,
From where the sun don't ever set,
Saffron Duet!
From that first glimpse of paradise
To where the heart of Heaven lies,
They're number one, don't you forget
Saffron Duet!
