Sail Away Poem by Amy J Richardson

Sail Away

The sun sets low on a shimmering sea,
A girl wishes to sail away with me.

A way to leave her woes behind,
A sleepy voyage to soothe her mind.

Gather our things in a big brown boat,
And write the daytime a goodbye note.

We cast away from the shore with ease,
Raise our sails to catch the breeze.

Bundles of blankets held in the hull,
And at once the sway begins to lull.

Settle yourself in my warm embrace,
And allow the wind to caress your face.

The light lies low like a fading flame,
A new day calls and whispers your name.

The sun winks out to welcome the night,
The stars all flickering, burning bright.

Now dream of oceans of beautiful blue,
Where the waves all weave to pastures new.

Know soon tomorrow will be today.
Sail away, sail away, sail away.
