Sand Dunes: Holy Island, Northumberland Poem by Teresa Hooley

Sand Dunes: Holy Island, Northumberland

There's beauty in the sand dunes-
Colour and shifting line,
With little things of wonder,
Exquisite and divine:
Forget-me-nots and violets
As blue as the blue sea;
Small flowers with rosy faces
Whose name is strange to me.

Red butterflies, and beetles,
And soft-hued shells of snails,
Purple and blue of pebbles,
And white of rabbits' tails-
Grey gulls to wheel above them,
And larks to soar and sing-
There's beauty in the sand dunes
On any day of Spring!
