Saturday's Desert - A Month Till Tuesday Poem by Shuaib Saifi

Saturday's Desert - A Month Till Tuesday

I leave my home with a heavy heart, it is the day;
The cafeteria lies autumnal and bare;
No green, no birds, just dryness in the air,
While she rests well, I work alone, away.

No hope of joy, the office has turned gray;
I sit and search for life in cold despair;
She is not here, her smile is found nowhere,
And every minute drags in a dull delay.

All day I live within a lonely gloom,
Four days feel more than five within this week,
Three days till Tuesday seem like a month of fire.

Without her smile, no flower dares to bloom,
I count the hours that leave my poor heart bleak,
To see her face again is my only desire.
