Saviour's Dream Poem by Hermione Femalton

Saviour's Dream

I don’t know what to say;
I don’t know what to do.
They think I have a plan;
They think I know what’s true.

What if tomorrow I told them,
That I simply cannot do it?
I don’t want to die;
Do what they see fit.

I just want to be normal;
To live and love and play,
I don’t want the weight of the world,
Wanting me to save the day.

I used to want a window;
Want to see the sky,
But now I’ve changed my mind;
Stops me aiming too high.

I have to shut them out;
Forget that they are here,
When they have what they want from me,
Isn’t the answer clear?

They teach me and prune me,
‘Till I am ready to fight,
‘Till I can save their lives;
Then they toss me out of sight.

This is all my life,
This is all I’ve seen,
I am haunted by nightmares,
This is a ‘saviours’ dream.
