School- From The Eyes Of A 3 Year Old Poem by Gayle Hildon

School- From The Eyes Of A 3 Year Old

It is the first day of my new nursery
I think I am excited, I can't really tell
My mummy says its great,
My name is what I will learn to spell

She helped me get dressed today
She said I looked smart
She told me all about the things I can do there
I do like painting, reading and all kinds of art

We get to the door theres a woman stood with a smile
I'm not too sure but I think she's my teacher, shes tall
I've heard mummy say I'm going to be here for a while
She tells me I'm a big girl but I feel really small

This room is so big and mummy can't come in with me
I think I might cry, I don't feel like I want to be here
She tells me it's okay, you will make lots of friends here, see?
I want to be brave but I'm so full of fear

Mummy don't go I will miss you so much
My tears are falling and I give her a tug
I'm scared and feel nervous,
I don't want you to go mummy,
Please give me a hug

She bends down to hug me, I don't want to let go,
She squeezes me tightly, kisses my cheek
You're a brave girl, I love you, you know?
I love you too mummy, I'll try not to cry
But please come back for me
Of course I will, my little sweetie pie!
