Searching Poem by Robert Dominicci

Searching

Rating: 5.0

I swear I’ve never seen you
I’ve been looking for you
But I’ve never seen you
Even though I know you were real all along

I was taught to look straight
Those behind me never mattered
So I would look ahead
Searching for you because I knew you were real

I knew your beauty was more than skin deep
I knew your heart was the purest
That your soul could put up with mine
I knew ahead of time that you could feel more than you believed

I knew many things
More than either of us would ever admit
Except one thing
You weren’t in front of me this whole time

You were right by my side
The one place I would never look
A place I would never see coming
You snuck into my heart
